Support for product variant variable in pre-order emails

We would like the ability to use the product variant variable in pre-order emails. Currently, this variable is only available for back-in-stock notification emails, which prevents us from including the specific variant information in pre-order notifications. Having access to the product variant variable in pre-order emails would allow us to include the correct variant details in the messages our customers receive when they subscribe to pre-order notifications.
